Mushrooms & Prepared Foods

Founded in 1976, River Valley Ranch is a third generation family farm and the oldest mushroom farm in the Midwest.   River Valley Ranch operates on 37 acres, specializing in five varieties of mushrooms: portabella, crimini (aka baby bella), white button, shitake, and oyster.  All farming at River Valley is done organically without the use of any chemicals, growth enhancers or pesticides.  Mushrooms grow in 35 ton batches of compost, produced on the farm using agricultural waste products. The compost is pasteurized during the mushroom growing process, making it naturally weed-free.  In addition to mushrooms, River Valley Ranch also grows a limited variety of vegetables that are used in the production of delicious prepared foods, like handcrafted salsas and dips.
