Shepherd's Pie
This kit contains the ingredients you need to make a comforting Shepherd's Pie with Slagel Family Farms ground beef, organic vegetables and Amish hand rolled butter. Feeds 6.
What You Need To Make This Recipe

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

Peel & quarter potatoes and place in a large stovetop pot. Cover with water, add salt and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until tender (approx. 20 minutes).

Chop onion.

Heat half the butter in a large skillet on medium-high heat and add the onion. Cook until translucent (approx. 6 minutes).

Add the frozen mixed vegetables to the skillet with the onion, stir and cook on medium for approx. 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir to break up the ground beef and cook until no longer pink.

Drain the liquid and fat from the skillet.

Add the beef broth and worcestershire sauce to the skillet, as well as salt & pepper to taste and cook uncovered for another 8-10 minutes.

Drain and mash the potatoes with the other half of the butter and add salt and pepper to taste.

Spoon the beef and vegetable mix into a casserole dish.

Top the casserole with the mashed potatoes, spreading out to evenly cover the meat.

Cook in the oven for 25 minutes.

Turn broiler on high and cook for another 5 minutes to brown/crisp the mashed potatoes.
