Our Featured Community Partner for April and May is Mercy Housing! The organization is working to create a more humane world where poverty is alleviated, communities are healthy and all people can develop their full potential. They believe that affordable housing and supportive programs improve the economic status of residents, transform neighborhoods and stabilize lives. You can add a donation to your order or Standing Order from Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks and no donation is too small. Mercy Housing will use donations to provide produce boxes to tenants who can't afford to buy even the discounted produce box. $120 will provide one tenant a monthly produce box for an entire year and if we reach $500 we can provide 50 tenants a free produce box! 
Featured Community Partner Every year, Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks partners with nonprofit organizations to further our missions and improve our communities throughout Chicagoland. Sometimes our connections revolve around food access, or health or land preservation while other times the issues have broad themes like living green, supporting local economies and nourishing our children. We want to let you know about some of the great organizations we support and give you the opportunity to get involved, make a donation or just simply be inspired!
Mercy Housing Lakefront and its sister-organizations are working together to fulfill a ten-year Moving Forward Together campaign to build or preserve 7,500 affordable homes, create 8,000 jobs, and prevent displacement or homelessness for 20,000 people in the Chicago and Milwaukee regions. http://www.mercyhousinglakefront.org Fresh Picks has been partnering with Mercy to provide discounted produce boxes delivered for free to tenants wanting affordable healthy food.
